The Herb Garden was the second garden created way back in 1995 and at present apart from sporting a rather lovely willow fence, is little changed. The tree in the centre is a Crab Apple – ‘John Downie’.
Plans are afoot to make some changes over the winter and spring of 2016/17. There are eight shaped beds and we are going to plant four with herbs of modern times, those that are popular today, including Woad, Echinacea, St John’s Wort and the Saffron Crocus. Ancient herbs of interest but not much used today will be planted in the remaining four beds.
